Bombshell Travels

Exploring the Windy City

Chicago, Illinois

July 2021

I went to Chicago to visit my little sister and to see what the city has to offer.

The Things We Did in Chicago

  • 360 Chicago – We went to the 94th floor to see the view of the city. We got on the tilt, which was a bit scary because it tilts you down.
  • The Willis Tower – We went to the tallest building in Chicago, where we were able to take pictures on The Ledge. There is a one-minute time limit, so make sure to be quick when you take pictures on the Ledge.
  • The Navy Pier – At the top of the Navy Pier, you’ll find attractions like the carousel and the Merry-Go-Round. Additionally, there are boats and ferries available for those looking to enjoy a ride on Lake Michigan.
  • Museum of Illusions – I went to this museum because I wanted to see the hype. This museum will trick, but the experience is cool.
  • The Bean – My sister and I visited Chicago’s most famous architecture.
  • North Avenue Beach- We visited and walked alone the beach
  • Wonder Museum – This was my favorite interactive museum I’ve been to. It is very creative, and you’ll learn the backstory of each art. My favorite exhibit is the Yayoi Kusama Let’s Survive Forever Infinity Mirror Room. The room has a bunch of mirrors and silver balls hanging around. It was so nice.
  • Neon Summer – This pop up event was in Chicago for a limited time! There were Go-Karts, Mini Golf, and Axe-Throwing. There were a lot of exhibits for you to take pictures. Also, there was a bar.

Chicago Brunch Spots

  • Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe – I had the Oreos S’mores Pancakes! If you have a sweet tooth, then you will LOVE this meal! Also, they will give a huge portion size that will keep you full throughout the day!
  •  Batter and Berries – This is my FAVORTIE BRUNCH SPOT in Chicago. This is a black owned restaurant. We brought our own champagne, so we can make our mimosa. I had the Cluck-N-Gaufre, which was a Sweet Potato Waffle with stuffed fried chicken and fried chicken with hot sauce on top. This was VERY GOOD! I recommend to come early, so you won’t have to wait a long time.
  • Kanela Cafe – I had the Crunchy French Toast with berries on top. This French Toast was good, and the portion size was huge.

Chicago Restaurants

  • Formento’s – This will be a perfect place for date night, dinner with family or friends. The bread and the Olive Oil were a perfect pair. The Olive Oil was really pure, and they add olives in it. The Calamari was paired with the Fennel & Pepperoncini Aioli, and it was REALLY good. I had the Bucatini Carbonara, which had an egg on top. The egg helped the sauce thicken and savory. To end the dinner, we shared the Tiramisu. This was my first time eating Tiramisu, and I tasted good!
  • Drink Off Shore – This is a rooftop bar located on the Navy Pier. My sister and I found out that you have to make reservations. Luckily, they were able to seat us. The drinks and the food were delicious. The best part is you get the view of the city and Lake Michigan.
  • South Branch – We went during happy hour while we waited on our reservation time for the Willis Tower. It’s best to go during lunch because it’s not as crowded.
  • The Avec – This is a Mediterranean restaurant where you can share your dishes with others. The Taglioni was my favorite dish from there. It’s best to bring family or friends with you, so everybody can try different dishes!
  • Molly’s Cupcakes – They have A LOT of options to choose from! My sister and I had a hard time picking which cupcake to buy 😂😂! I had the Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcake, and my sister had the Peach Cupcake. They were both good! After we had brunch, we went BACK to buy a different cupcake. I’ll definitely recommend people to go there!

Starbucks Reserve

This was my first time going to the Starbucks Reserve. If you are a Starbucks person, then you will love this place. I was amazed at how big it was. I really like how each floor had different food and drinks. On top of that, you can buy merchandise and coffee.
