Bombshell Travels

Dining out in Birmingham 2023

Here are a few restaurants I visited in Birmingham in 2023.

The Essentials

My friends and I went to The Essentials for brunch.
Here is what we ordered:
* Butter Croissant: Came with butter and a small jar of strawberry jam
* Brioche French Toast: Almond Pastry Cream and Blueberry Compote. The syrup was included, but I didn’t use it because of the pastry cream and blueberry.
* The Hash: It was really good! The Conecuh bacon and potatoes made the dish!
* Huevos Rancheros: I’m not a pinto beans person. The pinto beans in the dish were REALLY good, which helped the flavor of the dish.
Next time: I’m getting the Huevos Rancheros!

Farrelly’s Southern Bar & Kitchen

My friends and I tried another brunch restaurant, which is Farelly’s.

We ordered:
Mimosas: We had two bottles of champagne with four juice choices, which were Orange, Cranberry, Grapefruit, and Pineapple.
Pink silk: I ordered this drink, and it tasted like a strawberry mimosa.
Meat and Cheese Omelets: All of my friends ate the omelets. Also, they had a side of Brioche French Toast.
Stuffed Brioche French Toast: This was very good! I had raspberries on top of my French toast, and there were mascarpone in between the French toasts. The mascarpone gave the French Toast some sweetness and savor.

This restaurant has a nice, homey ambience. I felt very relaxed. This is a good place to eat brunch.

Galley and Garden

This was my first time going to Galley and Garden, and it is a nice restaurant for a date night or a nice gathering.

This is what we had:

Appetizers:
– Complimentary Bread & Butter
– Braised Pork Belly
– Crispy Brussels Sprouts
Dinner:
– Certified Angus Beef Short Rib
– Smoked Pork Chops
– Certified Angus Filet

The Fennec

My parents and I tried a new restaurant in downtown Birmingham, The Fennec. This restaurant has live music, a bar, and a club. We found out the restaurant turns into a club after 9:30. At 9:30, they remove the tables for the after party 💃🏽!

Drinks: The Yuma
Appetizers: Conecuh Corndogs and the Hitch Knot.
Dinner: Braised Short Ribs, Grits & Greens, and Keio’s Chicken Sandwich

Ironwood Kitchen & Cocktails

I went to Ironwood Kitchen & Cocktails for my Line sister’s birthday celebration. All of us ordered mimosas. They had a special mimosa, which were blueberry and strawberry. The strawberry was good, but it does in coagulate in a few minutes.
My friends ordered Grilled Prime NY Steak & Eggs, Shrimp & Grits, Grilled Chicken Sourdough Sandwich, and Yogurt & Granola.
I ordered the Birmingham Benedict, which were two Benedict eggs on top of Grit cakes and Collard Greens with a side of bacon. If you a fan of Benedict eggs, then you will like this meal!

EASTWEST

My line sisters and I went to EastWest, which is an Asian Cuisine restaurant.
Drinks: My line sisters ordered a margarita and a lemon drop. I ordered an Osaka Sptriz. It didn’t taste bad, but I would try another drink the next time I go back.
Appetizers: We ordered the Chinese Duck Nachos and West Wings. I love the Chinese Duck Nachos because they used wontons instead of chips. The wontons had a lot of flavor and crunch. The suck and queso were very good ! The West Wings were good due to the smokiness and the little spicy kick. I would pick those two appetizers, and call it my meal lol.
Dinner: We ordered the Bao buns, which were the Soft Shell Crab, Smoked Pork Belly, and the Short Rib. They were VERY good!

I would definitely come back. The food was delicious! Rating is 8.5/10

Hot Hot Fish Club

My dad wanted to go here because he has heard a lot about this restaurant. My parents and I went to check it out.

Drinks:
Pear Necessities
Hemingway Daiquiri

Appetizers:
Bread Service: Bread served with Basil Butter. The butter was good. It had an herb, olive oil taste.
Charcuterie Board: Meat and Cheese Assortment, Pickled Okra, Marcona Almonds and Alabama Honey. My favorite item was the Marcona Almonds, which had a robust flavor.

Dinner:
Duo of Duck: I had this, and it was delicious! The mushroom risotto wasn’t too mushy, and it had a creamy taste.
Braised Short Rib: My mom had this meal, and the braised short rib was tender. She wished there were less vegetables
Pan Seared Red Snapper: My dad had this, and he liked the fish.

Overall rating: 7/10. It’s because the service was a bit slow. My parents don’t think the food was all of that for the ticket to be over $300.

Social

This is a place for a girl’s night out or a date night. The food was delicious, and they will give you a big portion. We will definitely go back!

Drinks:
– Cashmere
– Autumn

Food:
– House wings
– Bone Marrow Brûlée
– Crab Claws
– Mini Baked Potatoes
– Lobster Mac N Cheese
– Rich Brown Butter Cake served with Seasonal Ice Cream

Adiōs

Adiōs is a cocktail bar. This is my third time going, and I love the ambience! The vibes are very immaculate, and it’s a great place to meet up with friends.
We had the Seasonal Frozen Margarita, which was very delicious!
The bartender was very knowledgeable about the ingredients he used to mix the drinks.
I do recommend going here if you need a drink after a long day and want to relax.
I give this bar a rating of 10/10.
