Discovering Oklahoma City on a Solo Journey

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

September 2022

I dedicated the weekend to exploring Oklahoma City, crossing it off my list of places to visit.

Things to do

  • Wheeler District
    • This place has a housing community, shops, restaurants, a Ferris wheel, hammocks, and a OKC sign. This is a good place to bring family and friends.
  • Bricktown
    • Bricktown has a lot of restaurants, bars, and fun things to do. I went on a boat tour around Bricktown and learned the history of Oklahoma.
  • Factory Obscura
    • This is an immersive place with different rooms to explore. I played a scavenger hunt and won a prize.
  • Oklahoma City Museum of Art
    • I loved this art museum because each floor had different art themes. My favorite floor was the top because the art display showed pop culture. It has a gift shop with a coffee bar.
  • Scissortail Park
    • Scissortail Park is great to get pictures, water sports, hang out, play, and walk around to see the scenery.

Restaurants

The Collective Kitchen & Cocktail

A food hall with different varieties of restaurants and a bar. A great place to hang out. I ordered food from The Fried Taco, and The Queso with Chorizo was delicious!!

Frida Southwest

Located in the Paseo District. My favorite dish was the Short Rib Egg Rolls, and the sauce balanced it! I’m glad I tried it before they took it off their menu.

Kitchen No. 324

Located in Downtown OKC. I ate the Chicken and Grits, which has Hot Honey Sauce drizzled over the chicken and grits. The poached egg gave the dish more favor.

Cheever’s Cafe

The Juan’s Queso Chihuahua is a layer dip appetizer with cheese, avocado, and tomatillo with a side of tortilla chips. I will say the meals were huge especially the Chicken Fried Steak.

The Jones Assembly

I ordered the Frosé, Scratch Biscuits, and Savory Ricotta Hot Cakes. I should have saved myself for the Savory Ricotta Hot Cakes because it was VERY delicious and big. The chicken, corn, and pancakes were a good combination.
